Dealing with an angry patient

A patient is recently diagnosed with cancer and needs to have a new case consultation with a nurse, whose agenda is to give her information.

The nurse becomes aware that she needs to suspend her agenda because the patient isn’t listened to her.  She appears to be angry and disengaged.

The nurse acknowledges what she sees and explores how the patient feels.

How do you think the patient perceives this interaction?  What else might you do?
